EUROPEAN DAY ON PAIN AWARENESS 2025

Dear Colleague,

Did you know that chronic pain affects nearly 150 million people in
Europe? To address this challenge, the European Pain Federation EFIC
established the European Day on Pain Awareness in 2024. From now on, it
is observed every year on the third Wednesday of October.

This year, on 15 October 2025, the theme is:

Preventive Healthcare for Chronic Pain

This theme reflects the importance of prevention in reducing the burden
of chronic pain and aligns with EU health policy priorities.

THE SOCIETAL IMPACT OF PAIN (SIP) EVENT
AT THE EUROPEAN PARLIAMENT

Join us for an in-depth discussion on the prevention of chronic pain and
its potential to reshape European health systems. This event, organised
by the Societal Impact of Pain (SIP) platform, and hosted by MEP
Motreanu, MEP Andriukaitis, MEP Sokol and MEP Pietikäinen, will convene
policymakers, researchers, clinicians, and patient advocates to explore
how the EU can scale up preventive action on one of Europe’s most
prevalent and costly health conditions.
